Forno di Zoldo

Getting to Forno di Zoldo, the starting point of the Alta Via Dolomiti Bellunesi, is fairly straightforward.

Handily, Val di Zoldo is located between Cortina, Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Venice. This is very useful if you want to combine trekking with stop-offs at other places of interest in northern Italy.

By car

Follow the A27 (Venice โ€“ Belluno) motorway right to the end.
Continue for 7 km on the SS51 Alemagna trunk road as far as Longarone and then turn left following the signposts for FORNO DI ZOLDO. This takes you up into the Val di Zoldo and Forno di Zoldo, 16 km from Longarone.

From the north

From the A22 Brenner motorway, take the Bressanone exit and join the SS49 trunk road, in the direction of Brunico/Dobbiaco. After 24 km, at San Lorenzo di Sebato, turn right towards Val Badia and continue to Arabba. Then follow the signposts for Selva di Cadore โ€“ Forno di Zoldo (48 km).

By train

The nearest train station is Longarone – Zoldo, which is about 20 km from Forno di Zoldo.

To avoid numerous changes, you can also use the Ponte nelle Alpi โ€“ Polpet and Belluno train stations. If you want to use public transport from these stations, youโ€™ll need to use the Dolomitibus services.

By bus

Bus services in the Belluno Province are provided by the Dolomitibus company.

The main line for the Val di Zoldo is line number 25 (Belluno โ€“ Pecol), which runs a slightly reduced service in the summer.
Other bus services that include the Val di Zoldo are: line number 40 between Zoppรจ di Cadore and Forno, and line number 10_E (summertime only) between Venice Piazzale Roma and Caprile.
In addition, the Dolomitibus service does not operate at weekends for some journeys.

There is also the Cortina Express private bus service in the Belluno Province, but this does not run to Val di Zoldo. For information on services and connections, visit the website: www.cortinaexpress.it.

By plane

The nearest, and recommended, international airports are Trevisoโ€™s Antonio Canova airport (103 km) and Veniceโ€™s Marco Polo airport (114 km).

Private transfer

Whether travelling in a group, or if you just donโ€™t want to think about organising a transfer by public transport, the easiest solution is to book a private transfer to collect you from the airport or station and take you to Forno di Zoldo.

The trailโ€™s end point, Feltre, has a direct train line.
From Feltre itโ€™s possible to get to either the A31 Valdastico motorway or the A27 motorway in an hour.

From the 2020 season a new operator is active that can cover the routes:

La Muda – Pattine (if you want to link stage 3 with stage 4)
Pian Falcina – Pattine (to avoid the stretch of asphalt that enters the Mis Valley)
La Muda – Forno di Zoldo (for those who want to travel only the northern part and then return to Forno di Zoldo)
and all possible transfers to and fromForno di Zoldo-Feltre / Belluno / Longarone.
